November 2018

I'd heard a few things about this little town, but got the impression it was only worth a few hours of wandering. I was pleasantly surprised and ended up staying an entire day catching an evening train around 6:40 to the next destination so that I could capture the lights at dusk. I clocked the highest step rate at almost 28,000 as I wandered through the morning market in the village, then to a museum on the other side of town up on a hill, then crossed back to the opposite hill to climb up the elevation for the ruins of Takayama castle, back down to the historic district and then shopping area at dusk. The morning market is one of the only one's in Japan that is consistently open every day all year long.
